Happy birthday, dear Jane!
Happy 250th birthday to the one and only Jane Austen. This year has seen a huge uptick in coverage of Austen across media outlets with new Jane Austen related films and miniseries coming out (and more announced), numerous books on Austen being released, and an incredible array of both in person and online gatherings promoting all things Jane.

We wanted to take our own moment to celebrate the everlasting wit and wisdom of the incomparable Jane Austen. Here’s to the woman who has given us all so much joy and countless hours of reading pleasure.
And in honor of her 250th birthday, we would love for you to share your own thoughts on why Austen is so important to you and why her books still resonate. Or feel free to simply share your favorite scene from one of her works or share a favorite quote in the comments below. Happy birthday, Jane!

One quote from Emma sticks out in my mind, as she is waiting for Harriet to be done shopping and sees "the butcher with his tray, a tidy old woman travelling homewards from shop with her full basket, two curs quarrelling over a dirty bone, and a string of dawdling children round the baker’s little bow-window eyeing the gingerbread..." I love this little "window" into what life was like back then, and the part about the children is especially charming to think about this time of year. Just one of hundreds of little moments to enjoy in her novels.
